NEW MOON IN CANCER - July 20, 2020, 1:34PM, EDT

New Moon 4.jpg

With three eclipses behind us that included a New Moon in Cancer in June, now in July we have a second New Moon at 28 degrees, 27 minutes of Cancer. at 1:34 PM EDT. Called a double New Moon we all have thechance to work once again with this strong lunar energy as we begin a new cycle of setting intentions and creating the next step in our lives.

When the Moon is in Cancer it signals a time of quiet internal reflection and listening to your intuition. How do you feel? What do you need? Vulnerability can challenge Cancer’s self-protective mechanism, but when you let yourself be vulnerable, you find the tender spot where honest sharing and deeper understanding flourish. The Moon and relationships go hand in hand and this may be a time of starting a relationship or reviving a current one. Romantic or platonic, more than ever we are learning how important we are to each other.

The Moon in Cancer is opposed by the triple conjunction of Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn, with Saturn in an exact opposition. Saturn rules Capricorn, an earth sign naturally authoritative with a serious focus on goals and striving to achieve something significant.  Cancer a water sign is sensitive, deeply intuitive, seeks a sense of family and has a natural response of nurturing, empathy and healing. Both signs are initiators and both are invested in security, but they approach it in different ways. Cancer with heartfelt support, care and understanding, Capricorn with responsible practical applications.

Saturn’s opposition to the Moon creates a feeling of limitation potentially increasing the tension built into oppositions, however this opposition used well can align and balance our inner needs with our outer purpose. Necessary self-care and family needs with work/community commitments. With a much needed second cycle of sensitive Cancer Moon energy calling us to open our heart to life and create our intentions, our awareness of the world situation and our part in it has become woven into daily life decisions. Using wisdom, determine where and with whom you place energy.

Saturn now retrograde, the message is to face the reality of our situation, reviewing our responsibilities and meaningful service. Apply more effort where it’s lacking. Understand that this historic transformation we are in the midst of isn’t over yet and our greatest work is still in front of us.

Neptune in Pisces trines the New Moon and sextiles Saturn supporting higher guidance, compassion and creative inspiration that eases some of the tension of the Saturn/New Moon opposition.

Chiron and Mars both in Aries squares nearby Mercury in Cancer compelling us to talk about our wounds and fears. When we have the courage to open up the floodgates with empathy and unconditional love, healing conversations can begin.

With so much in our world changing, with each of us processing and managing a constant information flow that can create internal upheaval and emotional overload, we need to have the space and incentive to regroup, recharge and recreate. This is a good time to make the plans and take the steps to further create comfort, cozy and organization in our home as well as work on our relationship with loved ones and ourselves.  To consider how we can create more “home” in our lives.

And there is this great big world, humanity, experiencing necessary and radical shifts. How do we participate? What can each of us offer to others at this time and how do we incorporate our efforts into our lives? We can start by understanding how we feel. What we desire and what we need to step into a new day, ready. Luckily the Universe has our back and this Moon in Cancer is the nurturer that holds space for us to get up and start again.

May the seeds of intention you plant at this Dark Moon grow the garden that lifts your spirit with grace, feeds your dreams and strengthens you on your journey.
