The Full Moon in Aquarius expands our awareness and pushes our boundaries. Innovative thoughts and feelings loom large, as we have moments of clarity about a situation, a person, or ourselves. In seeing the full scope of something, we feel compelled to make decisions that move us forward.
What we previously began at the New Moon in Cancer has grown to a point where we reach completion, begin to ease up, let go or welcome the next step. Mercury will be in the last degrees of Cancer during this Full Moon phase which may create hesitation in vulnerable conversations, but also brings out empathy, supporting emotional safety to speak honestly.
Aquarius is an air sign that carries the seed of genius, seeing beyond the status quo and into the future of untapped potential. A sign that represents freedom, revolutionary ideas and beliefs that support humanitarian needs and advancing technologies in all forms. The symbol for Aquarius (two wavy lines) is understood in two ways, the serpent of truth and the water bearer; the one committed to the “pouring out” of knowledge. For Aquarius, releasing the need for approval is necessary to claim personal truth and individuality.
Opposite the Moon is the Sun in Leo, forming the Full Moon phase. The Sun rules Leo increasing its bold solar light. Although very different energies of fire and air, both signs have an affinity for being genuine, each with distinct motivations. Leo is dramatic and highlights personal self-expression that is acknowledged and appreciated. Aquarius is cool headed, standing alone if necessary, in personal truth or a greater common cause, regardless of outside opinions or acceptance.
Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius currently in the sign of Taurus squares the Full Moon creating a point of contention. Uranus considered the “Great Awakener” shakes things up, creates change and space for new possibilities, sometimes suddenly.
This T- square with three fixed and stubborn signs of Leo, Aquarius and Taurus can feel like a standoff. No one willing to yield. Taurus, an earth sign, dislikes drama, needs security, comfort and calm and often resists change. However, this is a time when change is necessary for personal growth and the evolution of humanity. Uranus will in some way move the needle, within our consciousness and our outer circumstances.
Collectively and personally our understanding of our skills, stability and security, including economic and basic human rights and needs is being challenged. Take stock of what feels old, outgrown and ready for release as well as any new inspirations or unexpected openings these changes might create.
Adding to this Full Moon energy is Mars in Aries squaring Jupiter in Capricorn heightening already present tension around individual rights clashing with excessive authority. This statement is multi-layered with different meanings to different people. Defensiveness, frustration and anger can arise so be aware and use wisdom with these feelings constructively because others may not.
Opportunities are possible as well, but require drive, courage and sustained effort to activate meaningful change and big dreams. Choose your battles well and focus your energy in ways that support your personal beliefs and process of individuation; the shaping of your life that feels authentic to you.
This time of accelerated growth and change can feel surreal, intense and challenging on many levels and this Moon will intensify the energies and emotions. Remaining open to these energies is where we find the message, the gift and the guidance. What we do with how we feel is where our power lies, in our choices and our responses.
I have one more piece of astrological insight for this Full Moon as we navigate our personal evolution within a greater revolution. Remember that we are now in Leo season which speaks of joy, self-expression and playfulness, such a necessary part of life.
Although there are limitations we need to adhere to in dealing with this pandemic responsibly to keep ourselves and others safe and well, I encourage all of us, myself included to hold onto joy, allow creativity to blossom and find new ways to have fun and relax which supports our restoration. It’s a key part of self-care and one of the best things we can do for ourselves and others. It will support our ability to continue to evolve and become more of who we came here to be.
This Full Moon in Aquarius illuminates our need to stand in our truth. Be yourself and shine your unique light into the world for the benefit of the world.
