Mercury is the Messenger, the planet of communication. During Mercury retrograde, the Messenger slows down and thoughts and feelings are driven deep within. This planetary phase brings us a time of much needed introspection; to slow down and review how things are going within ourselves and life.
In the first sign of fiery Aries, the Ram, the Warrior, themes of fear, courage, passion and action are present. Mars is the ruler of Aries and adding extra energy and potential challenges to this retrograde period.
Aries is an initiator, bold, fiery, quick and competitive, a sign that often speaks and leaps before considering the consequences. Frustration and turmoil can occur more easily and conversations can become conflicts due to the quickness and sometimes impatience of Aries energy. If agitation rises and takes over, do your best to take a pause, to breathe. Remind yourself that patience and flexibility is in your best interest.
Technology is impacted and can affect all of our day to day devices we count on, making information flow and communication spotty and confusing. Make sure to check the wording in a text before sending and back up computer files maybe more than once if it holds importance. If working on a project, if possible give yourself extra time to manage any tech tangles that can hold you up. Additionally, this is a good time to update computers, clean out files and again, save what you want to keep.
Although Mercury retrograde can be irritating and chaotic, there is a cosmic gift in this planetary period of delay; we get a chance to go back over where we have already been, examining past conflicts and reassessing our desires and big plans. We are supported in further understanding ourselves and past motivations so that we can best determine what needs re-alignment or resolve and how we want to move forward.
While Mercury is retrograde any calming practice such as meditation or breathing can be helpful to be centered, with more patience and forethought. If at all possible wait until after the retrograde period to make major decisions, especially around relationships or major commitments. If you have to sign anything, take the time to go over details and requirements, ensuring that you and all parties understand every detail in full. This is the time to be very focused and diligent to ensure that your words and actions are well considered and deliberate.
Mercury in Aries is retrograde until April 25, 2024 when things begin to move forward and decisions and action can begin to be made. Do keep in mind though, there is a 2 week post shadow period until May 9, 2024 where there can still be some extra glitches and miscommunication.
