We are reaching the end of 2020, a year that will go down in history; a year that shifted the course of so many lives and changed our view of life and the world. A year of loss, grief, grit and hope, where in spite of immense division, we experienced more than ever a growing and profound realization of our shared humanity.
The last Full Moon of 2020 is in Cancer and Luna in her own sign is the most tender of Moons. After such a year this Full Moon amplifies a growing emotional awareness of our continued vulnerability, where thoughtful responsiveness and stabilizing change provides support so that we can keep going.
Cancer is the Mother, Healer, One Who Remembers. Self-protective as well as for loved ones, Cancer is learning to allow vulnerability, carefully opening the heart to love and life
During the Full Moon phase, the Moon and Sun oppose each other creating a polarized tension between the two luminaries. The Moon in Cancer opposite the Sun in Capricorn sets up a dynamic between the personal needs of home and family with the professional needs of career and community. A more difficult balancing act than ever, the gift is found by meeting in the middle.
The strongest aspect is Uranus in Taurus with an exact sextile to the Moon and trine to the Sun. This positive, supportive energy creates excitement for needed change forming new types of stability as we set our sights on 2021.
Mercury in Capricorn opposing the Moon stimulates serious conversations about the need for cautious self-discipline and responsibility for ourselves and others. The more accountable we are, the greater safety and well-being is provided for all.
Lastly, Neptune in Pisces squares Venus in Sagittarius creating strife, confusion and delusion in our relationships and what we desire. Be aware as this could result in over optimistic and potentially reckless choices. Although challenging, squares are growth inducing and require difficult decisions. Engage intuition bringing love and compassion together for the highest good for all.
We are ready to release 2020 and this Full Moon will bring to the surface a wave of emotions. Be gentle with yourself. You may experience moodiness and extra vulnerability. Know these feelings need expression providing opportunity for sensitive sharing, revealing your needs, increasing empathy and understanding.
We end this year on a pinnacle of how precious home and family are and a remembrance of those lost. Although we are ready to release the challenge and heartbreak of such a tumultuous year, there is the realization that we aren’t finished with these long and deep changes. We still need to protect ourselves and others as we carefully consider how to open up to life. Hold onto the resilient spirit of humans and our capacity for empathy and healing. Take heart, 2021 with more changes, unknown possibilities and great potential is right around the corner!
