full Moon in aquarius

august 15, 2019

As August, the Sunday of the summer begins to wind down, the Moon reaches full illumination in the early morn, 5:29 am PDT, at 22 degrees, 14 minutes of Aquarius. The Truth Sayer.

As the Moon reaches its peak and the light intensifies, so does our inner emotional messenger…our heart. Our feelings. They rise up and speak to us, with guidance that empowers us. The Full Moon brings a sense of conclusion and can provide clarity to make decisions and take action.

Aquarius is an air sign and an energy that is revolutionary, innovative, seeking freedom and individuality.   Needing to follow their own path even when challenged or shunned, Aquarius at times can end up standing alone, which takes courage, commitment and at times a good plan. However, the alternative of going through the motions living someone else’s definition of life eventually depletes the vitality and very essence of Aquarius.

This Moon in Aquarius is in opposition to the Sun and Venus in Leo, creating an awareness and tension between Aquarius’s need to stand in their truth regardless of acceptance and Leo’s need for self-expression that is received and appreciated. There is also an awareness of the balance between the need for independence and freedom with the need for love and partnership.  The conjunction between Venus and the Sun is exact and fuses life force with love reminding us how sweet it is to experience joy, vitality and loving connection within ourselves and with others.  These two different aspects will bring relationship issues to the table activating honest heartfelt sharing.

Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius is currently in the sign of Taurus, which just stationed retrograde. Uranus retrograde is a time to reflect upon our personal freedom, the changes we have made and changes we still want to see occur in our lives.  Uranus the planet of freedom and individuation brings change, sometimes suddenly; destabilizing and breaking down old structures to make way for new ones.

Taurus, an earth sign, likes consistency and often resists change. It’s easy to see the quandary of these two energies that don’t see eye to eye, but the ideal is to make changes that sustain. Changes that in the long run bring stability from authentic choices and actions.  Uranus will be retrograde until January 10, 2020 and during this time will bring to the forefront issues around our inner freedom and personal security.

Uranus in Taurus squares Mercury in Leo during this Full Moon creating stressful friction that can compel us to think creatively as we consider possible future changes. Mercury in Leo is ready to tell the world, but Uranus in Taurus holds back and wants to wait. It may be wise to slow down and cultivate ideas and plans before fully committing and sharing with just anyone.

During this lunar phase issues of authenticity and personal liberation will come up through your feelings reflecting your level of happiness. Take a moment to consider these questions. Is there an aspect of life that you’ve outgrown? Are you feeling a pull to explore something new, something that has been speaking to you? Do you sense that to be the best version of yourself, you need to make some changes to continue to grow?

Create some quiet time to hear your answers. Journaling or sharing your thoughts and feelings with a friend or partner can help you to bring what you’re feeling within, out into the open. Keep in mind that for some this Moon can stir up feelings of rebelliousness that can muddy the water. Remember this is about getting in touch with your true nature and desires. This is about your personal truth and the evolution of your happiness.
