NEW MOON SOLAR ECLIPSE IN CANCER

JULY 2, 2019

The New Moon sits in the darkness of the night calling us to open our heart and set our intentions, to nurture new beginnings. On July 2, 2019 at 12:16pm PDT, we are called by a highly charged New Moon Solar Eclipse at 10 degrees, 37 minutes of Cancer. As the Moon rules the sign of Cancer, this intensifies the potent energy of this Moon.

Cancer is a water sign, sensitive, empathetic and naturally oriented to home, family, personal safety and healing.  A natural care giver, Cancer often finds it easier to show up for others than for themselves doing their best not to hurt anyone. This can lead to pushing down personal feelings, needs and desires to the point that Cancer can become invisible as they are caring for others. At that point, no one sees what the Cancer person may need. The high expression of Cancer is to open the heart, to allow vulnerability. To ask for help when needed and to receive acknowledgement, support and love.

During this Eclipse when the Moon blocks the light of the Sun, we are given a signal to look at what dims our light and dampens our life force. Old memories may be stirred up and our attention drawn to the past. To our families of origin as well as our current family dynamic. Cancer energy remembers and retains previous impressions and feelings that require our attention at this time.  This New Moon Eclipse is a powerful pull to look at unresolved issues from the past that we hold onto and the personal pain that we carry. How have they affected our lives and ability to move forward?  And how can we support ourselves in beginning a process of learning to let go of the past, so we can more fully and joyfully live in the present?

This Moon squares Chiron, the Wounded Healer bringing a compelling message of courage and action in our healing process. I believe it’s important to recognize that when we address and activate our own healing, we then are able to bring nurturing and empathy to others more honestly and effectively. Self-care has become somewhat of a catch phrase, but the truth is, it’s important to do so. To take that responsibility to activate it and participate in it. It belongs to us and is our internal process even if we are guided by professional support.

Eclipses are known to bring change that can occur up to 6 months later so do pay attention to inner shifts and outer changes that you experience as they are guides on your journey. Open your heart to those that you trust will be sensitive and receptive. Engage with your intuition and plant the seeds that will support your personal process of growth, healing and joy.
