FEBRUARY 15, 2018

During the month of February there is no Full Moon. The only lunar event will be a partial New Moon Solar Eclipse on February 15, 2018 at 2:05pm MST, in the sign of Aquarius, at 27 degrees, 7 minutes. With only the New Moon this month, there is a focus on a heart centered creative process and planting the seeds of new beginnings. And as this is an eclipse, we are receiving a cosmic stirring that is meant to awaken us, creating inner shifts and outer changes that speed up our evolutionary growth.

Aquarius is an air sign whose higher mental perspective goes far beyond what is known and considered to be the norm. Looking to the future, Aquarius breaks up those relied upon mental constructs through inspiration and innovation, creating fresh ideas, methods and structures. Breaking the rules, Aquarius releases the outdated for the new and sets the stage for new paradigms.

How does this show up within us individually?  There is an area of each our lives, or possibly some part of ourselves that we have outgrown and doesn’t really represent us anymore. Where some type of change or update would support our growing maturity and individuality and realign our outer world with who we have become…now.

There are a number of other astrological influences that add nuance to the energy of this eclipse. Aligned tightly with the Sun and Moon in Aquarius, is the asteroid Juno and Mercury also both in Aquarius. Juno is considered the Goddess of Marriage as she represents commitment to relationships and Mercury is the Messenger of information gathering and sharing, perception and communication.

This indicates that there can be some shifts in our perception and definition of our relationships. Certainly our relationships with others, but also with ourselves and with anything that we connect to personally.  Aquarius asks us to consider breaking out of old beliefs and tired patterns of behavior and communication, and instead seek new and unique ideas and solutions that support elevation and renewal.  Essentially breaking up what holds us back, and instead, encouraging growth that creates the potential for new relationships or supports the evolution of our current relationships.

Additionally, Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius is in the sign of Aries and in an exact sextile with Mercury in Aquarius. This stimulating aspect stirs up ideas and conversations that continue to address the long held fears that hold us back, as well as our growing courage to claim a higher more authentic version of ourselves.

And one more… Transiting Jupiter in Scorpio makes a square to the Moon, Juno and Mercury creating some stress but also a potent opportunity to identify and release old wounds. We gain clarity about what blocks us from creating healthier, more supportive, loving, authentic relationships when we can honestly name the patterns of behavior and painful emotional responses that keep us stuck.

The need for change and growth is a natural part of life and there are times when this need accelerates. We are in one of those times. For many this can feel unsettling, however by creating a safe space for ourselves and others, honest self-assessment, and communication are more likely to take place, which can strengthen our commitment to a more authentic life and love, through mutual understanding and support.

Who are we…..really?  That is the question that Aquarius asks and this New Moon Solar Eclipse is bringing us a perfect opportunity to seek the answer. For each of us individually and collectively at this time. We are in an awakening….
