On September 30, 2016 the Moon will begin another new cycle at 8 degrees, 15 minutes, in the sign of Libra. During a New Moon, the Moon and the Sun are in the same degree and we can’t see the Moon because the lighted side of the Moon is facing away from Earth. But we can feel it. The New Moon calls us to begin, to reset, to continue on. It signals a similar sequence within ourselves and our lives.  We have in essence an open space to create from.

This New Moon is in the air sign of Libra. Relationship oriented Libra seeks peace. This peace can be found in aesthetically pleasing things and experiences that reflect the ideals of beauty and balance. Art, music, love, and socially graceful interactions and experiences with others are just a few examples.

Libra represents the scales of justice, where peace can be found through the process of balancing ideas or beliefs that are opposing.  Of hearing both sides and then working towards a common ground, fairly and honestly.

Libra naturally gravitates to other people, to relationship. To the ideas, feelings, and intentions of the other. The dynamic of I vs we. Personal needs vs the needs of the relationship. Independence vs partnership. Libra’s energy of consideration supports interpersonal interactions that are an integral part of life, as well as the relationship we have with ourselves.   Developing a sense of ourselves and how we view and literally treat ourselves is important.  Choices motivated by unconscious negative feelings of self-doubt, or self-worth, can be a factor in patterns of behavior that usually bring undesired results.

Transiting Jupiter in the early degrees of Libra will be close to this New Moon adding the possibility of opportunities for growth and positive change through and with other people. Jupiter also can fuel our optimism within existing relationships as well as the potential of new people showing up. And let’s not forget about new experiences related to our personal aesthetics. The creation or appreciation of art, music, anything that appeals to your senses, that is pleasing, nurturing, or calming.

Libra can elevate us, but can also create fence sitting, and procrastination. And big and generous Jupiter can operate from its lower expression of excessiveness and over-optimism that can have troubling consequences.

During this New Moon in Libra, consider ways that you can create more balance and beauty in your life. Think about important relationships; is there a healthy balance between you and the other person. Is there mutual appreciation and communication? Are there issues that are asking for attention and honesty, so that healing could be facilitated? Or, are you beginning to feel ready to open to a relationship? To allowing love in?

In this world of startling changes, and worldly concerns, the idea of a bit more beauty, balance, and peace within ourselves and in our personal relationships feels rather important. Necessary, actually. And my wish, is that during this New Moon in Libra, we all have the opportunity to discover and activate what that could be.
