JULY 31, 2019

Once again a new lunar cycle begins where we all have the opportunity to consciously create from our heart. During a New Moon, the Moon and Sun are in the same sign and degree, their energies fused together.  On July 31, 2019 there will be a New Moon at 8 degrees, 36 minutes of Leo at 8:11pm PDT. This New Moon is the 2nd New Moon of July and also a Super Moon due to its close proximity to the Earth, adding a greater potency to this Moon, which will affect the tides as well as all of us.

The New Moon is a time to get in touch with our feelings regarding our personal happiness and allow ourselves to create something new, something we’ve thought about a long time, something we know we need to get moving on. Feelings feed our visions and when we visualize our desires with clear intention we are planting the seeds for what is possible. There is something within each of us that is rising to the surface that needs expression and can feed our happiness.

The image of Leo is the Lion, a creature that captures our attention in its very presence. The sign of Leo is fixed fire that is bold, dramatic and naturally expressed through creativity, play and leadership. Ruled by the Sun, Leo is full of vitality and life force shining their bright light into the world and on those around them. Self-expression is most natural for Leo and to have that expression acknowledged and enjoyed completes this natural process.

There are a number of aspects to this New Moon energy to consider. First, is Venus, close by in Leo adding her bright loving energy to this Moon. Venus shows us the way to love, to opening our hearts and this is an indication that new or current relationships, and expressing our feelings to those we care about will factor in for many during the energy of this Moon. Venus in Leo also speaks to understanding what appeals to each of us as we set our intentions and create from desire. From an additional perspective Venus can represent the skills and interests that we are invested in and love, and that support our ability to earn money and create other personal resources.

On the other side of the New Moon is Mars in Leo. Not quite a conjunction to the Moon, Mars brings extra passion and ignites our courage to set things in motion. Fed by a flowing trine from Jupiter in Sagittarius, there is a sense of optimism that fuels our faith in life and the desire to reach for our dreams.

Additionally, Mercury in Cancer having just stationed direct signals thoughtful movement on any ideas or plans that have been simmering since July 7th. Sensitive conversations can reveal insights around family matters and self-care.

I have to mention the long term astrological energies of Pluto, the South Node and Saturn all in Capricorn looming in the background. Currently Pluto and Saturn are still retrograde. This configuration of serious cosmic teachers continue to instruct us to reflect upon our inner integrity, higher purpose and continuing maturity; no matter what age. Saturn presents the reality of our situation and explains that discipline and commitment is needed if we are to reach our goals. Pluto shows us our wounds that prevent us from reaching our higher purpose. What are the fears or lies we’ve believed that prevent us from being all we are capable of? Are we striving for what truly matters to us? The message of the South Node is to learn from our past patterns that didn’t serve us or others and to not repeat them. If we do, we’ll get more of the same. Together these three bring the sober yet inspiring directive that when we commit to creating something bigger than ourselves, we create a life rich with deep meaning.

Lastly is a harmonious trine from Chiron in Aries and a challenging square from Uranus in Taurus to Venus and the New Moon in Leo.  Chiron in Aries helps us to identify the spiritual wounds of fear that debilitates our life force, challenges our ability to open to love and dims our light. By understanding our fears, we have the opportunity to take the first step in our healing process.  The square from Uranus in Taurus compels us to look at the ways we can feel safely stuck that hinder our ability to anticipate and participate in healthy changes and ultimately be who we truly are.  Remember that that the key to working with all the aspects, easy to challenging, is awareness and integration.

This Moon is about you, about shining your light. Be creative in whatever way feels right for you.  Be yourself and express yourself. Exchange stories with someone. Receive their light. We all have them and we all need to be seen and heard.  Hug someone that has your heart. This is an extra powerful New Moon so engage with the energy. Be bold! Open your heart and soul to new measures of joy and yes…have some fun!  Whatever it is that asks for new life at this time, my hope is that you find the inspiration, courage, and love to set it in motion.
