APRIL 15, 2018

The New Moon is the beginning of a new lunar cycle and a time of renewal; urging us forward to continue the ongoing process of creating our lives. During the darkness of the New Moon we are called within, to know how we feel, what we desire and then plant the seeds of something new. Something that will feed the flow of life. Light a candle, say a prayer or write an intention. The New Moon is a time of visualization.

On April 15th at 7:57pm, this New Moon in Aries, 26 degrees, 2 minutes,  holds special significance being the first New Moon of the astrological New Year that began on March 20th, the Spring Equinox.  As the trees and flowers form their first new buds of life, we too are encouraged to cultivate growth within ourselves and our lives.

The energy of Aries is quick, independent and fiery. A natural orientation to courage and action, Aries is the Warrior.  Adding to this Aries Moon is transiting Uranus, which has been in the sign of Aries since 2011. During these 7 years we have collectively and individually felt this urge to unveil a more authentic expression of ourselves and live our truth. Called “The Great Awakener” Uranus in Aries shakes us out of complacency creating sometimes sudden changes, digging up our fears and showing us that courage, determination and action are needed to be who we truly are.  And as transiting Uranus moves through the last few degrees of Aries, we are experiencing an acceleration of changes, actions, and reactions. The best way to handle this is to be aware. Maintain mindfulness in thought, word and movement to navigate this powerful time of change.

Transiting Mercury, also in Aries and retrograde since March 22nd has provided some needed time to slow our racing thoughts and sift through our plans and desires.  In the early hours of April 15th Mercury will station direct giving us the signal to move forward with intention and clarity.

Transiting Mars, the ruler of Aries adds a charge to the New Moon and in the sign of Capricorn provides drive and self-discipline to accomplish our goals. On either side of Mars are Saturn and Pluto both in Capricorn. These two powerful outer planets bring their gifts of wisdom and the striving for meaningful purpose as we create from our heart.

It takes courage to go after what we desire, to choose happiness and authenticity. To face that there are times in life when what we once knew, breaks down or changes. There is a saying, "Sometimes when things seem to be falling apart, they are actually falling into place."

May this first New Moon in the astrological New Year, be one of courageous creativity. Where we hold in our heart our true desires and with passion and purpose bring them to life.
