New Moon in Aquarius
January 27, 2017
During the New Moon, the sky is dark. In the darkness, in the deep subconscious something stirs, seeking expression and form. It is a time when we feel an urge to open to something not yet discovered, or understood. An inner call to begin, once again with our heart, our happiness at the helm.
This New Moon is in Aquarius, and occurs at 3:06pm MST, at 8 degrees, 15 minutes Aquarius, and is the first New Moon of 2017. For many of us, the starting of the New Year gives us pause to re-evaluate our selves, and our lives, to see where we can make some adjustments or improvement. A time when we challenge ourselves, and commit to resolutions and goals. This first New Moon can help us kick start our year, personally and collectively.
The air sign of Aquarius, represents one who seeks individuality and freedom, who thinks beyond what is and envisions something different, sometimes radically different. Aquarius is the truth sayer, who seeks, speaks, and lives their truth, in the face of disapproval and pressure to conform.
Aquarius is the Revolutionary; there is a connection to the condition of humanity, and Aquarius understands the need to sometimes break down and release the old paradigms to make way for new innovations, new ways of thinking, believing, and creating that can improve conditions and life for the greater good. And Aquarius is the Exile, the one who in living their truth, sometimes stands alone in their truth.
With the New Moon in Aquarius urging us to get started…we can ask ourselves….where do we need more freedom, what can we do, change, or begin to strive for that supports individuality. What is your personal truth that needs expression? What and where in your life is an adjustment or update nudging you? Aquarian energy is engaged and active if, when thinking about your life choices, your circumstances, your personal self-expression, these kinds of thoughts and feelings come up, “that’s not who I am”, ”this just doesn’t feel right for me”, or “that used to work for me, but just doesn’t feel right anymore.”
The best course of action is to get as clear as you can. If you can, find some quiet time. Turn your awareness to your heart. How are you feeling? What would bring you a greater sense of fulfillment, a greater ease in who you are now? Where in your life do you wish you could change something? Consider ideas you’ve never thought about before, but that appeal to you on some level. Share your feelings, write things out. Pay attention to what feels right, that truly resonates on a soul level. Talking to others can be helpful, but beware of opinions that demoralize or disrespect your values. With sensitivity to others, listen, and consider if it feels right, otherwise remain strong within yourself.
There are no major aspects directly affecting the New Moon, however, there is a tight aspect between Venus in Pisces squaring, Saturn in Sagittarius. This square gives us a push, the compelling need to integrate the desire to be open and inspired by what and who we love, and the necessary discipline, wisdom, and commitment to growth, freedom, and personal belief. With all aspects integration is the key to getting the most benefit.
Uranus is the planet of individuation, and rules Aquarius. Since March of 2011, Uranus has been in the fire sign of Aries. It will be in Aries until 2018; 7 years. Uranus in Aries has brought great change into the world, and within the lives of many people. It has brought us in touch with how much courage is needed, especially with opposition, to stand up and be counted. To strive for a more honest and authentic life. To garner more independence as we honor our relationships with others. To courageously be true to ourselves. It has brought up a greater call for freedom against oppression. It is, along with Pluto in Capricorn a big part of the dramatic and sometimes sudden, unexpected developments and challenges our world has seen and is experiencing.
To add some extra cosmic push to the effects this Moon can have on us, tomorrow, January 28th, transiting Mars will leave Pisces and move into the first sign, the fire sign of Aries. This shift of Mars energy energizes and gives a signal to move forward, to make decisions, to find courage, take action and deal with any true desire, or frustration, fear, or anger. Do be aware that this shift can create sudden emotional reactions that may not bring the outcome you desire. Using wisdom, strategy, and discernment can move things forward, with greater productivity and positive results.
We are all living in very intense and changing times; no matter what your beliefs are about the state of the country, the world, or the planet. And because of this, emotions are high, nerves are stretched, and communication and actions can feel ineffective.
I say this with the highest intention and loving encouragement; that we are being called to honor our own personal and collective uniqueness, and to live in our truth. That there is such beauty in our differences, and that ultimate truth is, we are all One People. That with peaceful conviction, we can be our own best warrior. That we can come together, create positive change for others and ourselves. That we can value our planet Earth to support future generations. That we can participate in the evolution of the human family. That we can make a difference.
