January 2014

January 1st is the day when many of us set new resolutions to start over and make our lives better, and the New Moon urges us to begin anew and create something out of the nothingness. Amazing that on this January 1st we begin the year with such a potent New Moon in Capricorn, powered by a tight conjunction with the Sun (life force and expression), Mercury (communication and sharing of ideas), and Pluto (transformation through healing and higher purpose). This New Moon can help us set the tone for 2014, defining what we care about enough to dedicate ourselves to and achieve, and as all of these planets are in the sign of Capricorn there is the need for integrity in accomplishing something significant and personally meaningful.

This New Moon is also very powerful due to its part in a cardinal grand cross that began on December 27th and strengthens some until January 12th. It will then ease up until it peaks in April. This cardinal grand cross incorporates the ongoing Pluto-Uranus square as well as Mars in Libra, and Jupiter in Cancer. Planets in a cross formation create a great deal of stress and tension and brings into our psyches and lives challenges and possible crisis, but also tremendous potential for growth through conscious intention and making important yet difficult decisions. Cardinal signs are energies that initiate the birth of something new, life pushing into creation. This cardinal cross can create uprising of anger, misuse of power, and sudden changes that appear out of the blue. With such intense aspects, move and speak with awareness and care. Be in the moment of conscious intention. We all are affected individually and collectively, however people with planets in Capricorn, Aries, Libra, and Cancer will experience a more direct impact.

Relationships call our attention this entire month while Venus, the Goddess of Love, is retrograde in Capricorn until January 31st, creating the need for integrity while reflecting on who and what you love. Venus retrograde is a time of inner searching and reflection on the value of your relationships, determining which issues are deal breakers and which ones need improvement. Honest re-evaluation is called for during this period; however wait to make decisions or changes. Allow realizations to sink in and fully understand the impact your actions may create in the lives of all involved. The time to take any needed action would be after Venus stations direct on January 31st.

On January 16th the Full Moon is in its natural sign of Cancer. Cancer is sensitive, moody, and imaginative. Honest opening of the heart and allowing the vulnerable sharing of your story can deepen connection and bring great healing.

On January 30th the 2nd New Moon is in the sign of Aquarius. Aquarian energy seeks individuality and this can awaken true feelings about current life situations that could feel unsettling, yet help you to make adjustments and move forward with more authenticity.

I wish you all a New Year that opens your lives to deeper love, greater authenticity, and a renewed sense of hope, opportunity, and peace!
