FULL MOON IN TAURUS
OCTOBER 24, 2018
Full Moon in Taurus – October 24, 2018 – 9:45am at 1 degree, 13 minutes of Taurus
The Full Moon shining her bright light illuminates and draws our attention. A time when our awareness expands and seeks expression. Something within us or in our lives needs attention through acknowledgment, closure, release, or even celebration.
Security….what does it mean to you? Taurus, the first earth sign is very interested in security. Resources. Money and possessions that create comfort and stability. Taurus seeks calm and peace. A connection to nature, the body and the senses help to ground Taurus in a healthy way. Music and silence as well. Taurus likes consistency and too much change can throw Taurus off, but fear of change and needing to keep everything as is can lead to Taurus’s shadow of becoming stuck in a rut and bored with life.
All Full Moons are opposite the Sun. And this time around, Venus in Scorpio right next to the Sun, also opposes the Moon. Venus in Scorpio loves to dive into the deep psychological depths and when motivated will turn over every stone to find the truth. Scorpio’s focused scrutiny and taste for the intense can dig at Taurus who prefers the calm of stillness and serenity and sometimes less talking. Keep in mind that oppositions create awareness and tension between the planets and signs, but also the opportunity to find meaningful common ground.
This Full Moon has quite a few additional astrological influences. The opposition with Venus and the North Node in Leo and the South Node in Aquarius also in opposition, all combined with the Moon create 4 squares which is called a grand cross. Due to the four fixed signs this is a fixed grand cross, and a fixed grand cross creates an energy that pulls in 4 different directions yet can feel rather immovable. The truth though is this; the fixed grand cross has a strength to it that with awareness and concerted effort is deeply growth inducing through the challenges it presents and the necessity of making sometimes difficult decisions. You may be shaking your head with that thought, but I’m sure you’ll agree that most growth is found through challenges handled well.
The Full Moon amplifies our thoughts and feelings that have been building and the opposition with Venus can bring up issues around relationships. Both Taurus and Scorpio are fixed signs and normally don’t back down especially when emotions are heightened. Uranus now retrograde and sitting right next to the Moon at 0 degrees of Taurus causes us to reflect on personal authenticity and our inner and outer resources. Uranus in such close proximity to the Moon magnifies the potential for sudden emotional outbursts and Venus and Mercury both in Scorpio can come back with words that sting. If situations or conversations begin to intensify or unravel, think about your desired outcome. Fuel your personal power with high intention. Remember that every Moon phase provides each of us an opportunity to open up our heart. This Moon can set the stage for honest sharing that facilitates truth seeking, healing and authenticity. And due to the nature of Uranus, changes that can look many different ways can be activated, within ourselves, our relationships, and our resources.
The South Node in Aquarius is the humanitarian, the revolutionary focused on the masses and stirs up karmic issues around freedom and the right to individuality. The North Node in Leo is the leader and the need to share our personal story. Leo energy urges us to find joy in our honest expression of self. To shine our light into the world.
Lastly is Saturn in Capricorn sending support from an easy flowing trine with the Moon and Uranus. Saturn reminds us to use wisdom and self-discipline at a time when emotions can come to a head. That approaching circumstances or relationships maturely and with a certain level of realism can help us to accomplish our intentions with integrity, honesty and commitment.
The message of this Taurus Moon is that there is value in slowing down. When we learn to slow down, we can find greater clarity and efficiency. Come back into your body and find calm, that space where mind, body and spirit reconnect. We are all part of the natural world and communing with nature in ways that feel correct for us can be one of the best ways to relax and let go. As well as listening, dancing to, or playing your favorite music.
Remember how important it is to be still and breathe, centering yourself. Even for just a few minutes. Allow the message of what is authentic for you to filter in. Gain understanding of what you personally need to show up in your relationships and in the broader circle of your life with love and grace. My wish is that you find what gives you serenity and that you remember to go there often.
