FULL MOON IN TAURUS

NOVEMBER 3, 2017

November 3, 2017 at 11:22 MDT, the Moon will be Full in the sign of Taurus shining brightly in the Autumn night sky. During the Full Moon our emotional nature and intuition is heightened. We have a sense of realization or completion, when decisions are made and set in motion. This Moon is a Super Full Moon due to its close proximity to the Earth. This closeness increases the electromagnetic and gravitational pull of the Moon and its effect on us as well as the tides. This surge in energy increases the potential for greater breakthroughs in our evolutionary process.

Taurus is the first Earth sign and is strongly aligned with the security that resources bring. Ruled by Venus, Taurus seeks serenity…peace and calm, and has a strong dislike of drama.  Taurus has an innate connection with nature and discovers a sense of ease living in and through the body.  Movement, touch, taste, sound, smell. Taurus has a natural orientation to stability found in healthy relationships, developed skills, and the basics that support survival and comfort.

During the Full Moon phase, the Sun and Moon are directly opposite each other, by sign and degree, which for this current Moon creates a polarity with the Sun in Scorpio. Every year in October and November the Sun is in Scorpio and signals the entry into the darkness when the light begins to fade, awareness turns inward and and we connect to deep feelings. Scorpio’s probing energy searches for the truth, no matter how challenging or harsh, and in that truth seeks understanding and healing. You can see the distinct difference between these two signs.  Taurus needs calm and Scorpio needs to plumb the depths and I think that it is important to mention that both signs are fixed signs and don’t yield easily without conscious intention.

Adding astrological impact is Venus, the ruler of Taurus which is currently in the sign of Libra and in an almost exact (1 minute short) opposition with Uranus in Aries. This second powerful polarity demands our attention to keeping the peace with others and claiming the courage and freedom to be authentic.

These aspects create the potential for changes or adjustments in relationships, as well as what appeals to us in any facet of life, including our personal expression.  This aspect is another layer in the ongoing astrological influence that is bringing shifts of consciousness and outward events, awakening each of us to what holds true meaning for us at this time. It’s important to recognize this individual and collective shift and that we do have power to participate in the process.

This potent Super Full Moon illuminates the importance of creating and nurturing our own inner stability and calm, as we face deep and intense feelings and experiences that change us at our core. How do we navigate this tension?  With thoughtful and caring communication, taking into account the needs of the other person as well as you own, as you actively listen and share your feelings honestly.

Slowing down and grounding ourselves can be very beneficial at this time. Personally and collectively we are navigating strong emotions and a world that can feel quite unstable. Consciously connect and experience the joy in meaningful relationships, to those that support you in love and commitment. Connect to nature. Go for a hike. Work in a garden, take in the sunset, or walk on the beach. Pet your cat or dog and relish the sweetness of beloved fur babies. Sit in the sun. Find a moment to be still….and breathe.
