MARCH 31, 2018

March 31, 2018 there will be a Full Blue Moon 4:36am MDT. The Blue Moon refers to the 2nd Full Moon in a month and this one will be 10 degrees, 44 minutes of Libra.

The Full Moon beaming its bright light due to the reflection of the Sun draws us to look up and feel its power and beauty. Viewing a Full Moon can be riveting, and it can work the same with our feelings and personal situations. Something has grown so large within our consciousness and holding us there that we have to pay attention.  Emotions can intensify and take over which can work out well or not so well depending on how we express them.  Circumstances can become clear and require our attention for action, for commitment or conclusion.

When the Moon is Full, the Sun and Moon are in opposition. This creates an awareness and tension between the needs and expressions of these two luminaries, as well as an opportunity to create balance through the honoring and integration of these different energies. Yet from a certain perspective these two celestial bodies work together in cosmic harmony to create the powerful light we see in the night sky.

Astrologically, this opposition is with the Moon in Libra and the Sun in Aries.  I used the example of the Sun and Moon working together to segue into the sign of this Moon…Libra. Ruled by Venus the Goddess of Love, relationships and interdependency are Libran territory. Ultimately, Libra seeks peace by developing inner balance, connecting to and expressing beauty, and achieving harmony with others by standing in their personal truth.

The Sun is in the fire sign of Aries. Ruled by Mars, passionate, assertive and independent Aries naturally gravitates towards stress and conflict which seems strange. However, this process provides the learning curve Aries needs to develop courage, set healthy boundaries and debate. Aries is also quick acting, where Libra weighs out the options before setting forth.

Since January 2nd when transiting Uranus stationed direct and is now moving through the last few degrees of Aries, life has been moving faster. There has been a growing sense of urgency to continue addressing our fears as well as strengthening our personal path to courage and authenticity in the midst of adjustments or changes within our lives.  We recently experienced the Spring Equinox and the beginning of the astrological year with the Sun entering Aries, the first sign of the Zodiac. Adding to this was Mercury and Venus also in Aries. Spring is a time of renewal and waking up to life, but this Spring, the energy has a momentum that is being felt by most.

With that said, I want you to consider that information as an important background for the Libra Full Moon. There are a few additional astrological influences that are part of this Full Moon that are speaking with authority. One, is Mercury retrograde in Aries conjunct the Sun, which is opposing the Moon. Mercury retrograde always provides a few weeks where we are called to slow down, reflect, reconsider our position. It’s a great time to clean out the clutter, make important lists and work on a plan for something that we can implement after the retrograde (if possible) with greater ease and success. Paying attention to communication and the details of anything meaningful or important is always wise. And this retrograde also allows us the time for processing our truth; who we each are right now and what will bring us greater joy and purpose.

With Mercury retrograde opposing the Moon it increases the awareness as well as possible tension between the two signs of the opposition that can show up within our thoughts and conversations. We have a choice here, we can either use our words thoughtfully or go back and forth in frustration or anger. This won’t resolve anything and can have a hurtful impact on our relationships.  Use awareness, intention and considerate language to reach an outcome that is desired.

Also in the mix is transiting Mars (the ruler of Aries) in the earth sign of Capricorn, conjunct Saturn in Capricorn. These two planets are making a square to the Full Moon which potentially can create even more stress and friction in our relationships, however squares also bring us the possibility of growth through integrating these various energies in a meaningful way. Saturn and Mars both in Capricorn compel us to use disciplined maturity and courageous action as we navigate the balance between personal needs and the needs of the relationship.

When we humbly stand in our personal authority, we learn to honor the other person’s right to as well. There can be less blame throwing and more honesty with the desire to look at both sides of a situation. Choosing this approach to inter-personal problems can feel challenging, yet is one that can build empowerment and strength. When we choose the high road it does require something of us and yet that is the message for each of us during this Moon in forging more harmonious meaningful human connections.
