FULL MOON IN CAPRICORN

JUNE 27, 2018

On June 27, 2018, at 10:52pm MDT, the Moon will be Full in the sign of Capricorn, 6 degrees, 28 minutes. When the light of the Moon reaches its peak and illuminates the night sky, we have an emotional response that rises up within our hearts and mind. Our awareness and inner knowing intensifies during this time of internal realization. Something within and in life is demanding our attention…

All Full Moons occur when the Sun is opposite the Moon. This creates an awareness, a tension of the different needs and expression of these two luminaries, and the importance of integrating each of these energies to create balance.  This polarity occurs between the Sun in Cancer and Moon in Capricorn, and represents the balance between home, family, safety and personal nurturing (Cancer), and career, goals, achievement, and public reputation (Capricorn).

Capricorn is an earth sign that seeks to align its outer world with its inner beliefs. Integrity, responsibility, self-reliant, commitment, determination; these are Capricorn characteristics. Capricorn is deeply goal oriented, and the sometimes solitary, slow, and steady path are an integral part of their accomplishment. Through this timely process Capricorn develops their own personal inner authority that can be serving, solidifying, and steadfast. This inner authority is their personal beacon, yet at times, and for some, can become overbearing, and even tyrannical

Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn is currently retrograde and conjuncts the Full Moon creating a more serious emotional energy and reflection as we assess the reality of our situation. Are we showing up as well as we could? Do we need more solitude to focus and get things done? Is the path chosen feeling stuck, difficult, or just tired? Saturn teaches us to use wisdom and integrity as we define our goals and what truly matters to us in our home and work life. The Moon reminds us that if we truly aren’t happy with what we’re creating, we can change that and work towards what does feel right. With Saturn’s message of a solid plan and the willingness to commit with discipline and determination, positive changes can begin to manifest.

Adding energy to this Moon is Chiron now in the beginning degrees of Aries and making a square with the Moon and Saturn. This aspect triggers personal wounds of fear, frustration and sometimes anger that challenge our inner authority, personal power and confidence in achieving our meaningful goals.

One last important event…transiting Mars stations retrograde today, June 26, 2018 until August 27, 2018, and the shadow will end October 8, 2018.  At the beginning of this retrograde phase Mars will be in the sign of Aquarius causing us to reflect on our personal authenticity and freedom. On August 13th Mars will move back into the last degrees of Capricorn, where it will finish up its retrograde on August 27th. Moving back in to Capricorn we face issues of our reality, ambition, inner authority and the plans and methods we can soon activate to move forward with our goals.

Mars is the fifth planet to retrograde along with Jupiter in Scorpio, Saturn in Capricorn, Neptune in Pisces and Pluto in Capricorn. We are all being directed inward in regards to growth, maturity, inspired higher guidance and destiny. Now with Mars we are guided to slow down our actions and reflect with careful consideration are motivations and the methods and actions that we normally take. Are they effective? Could there be a better decision, direction or course of action with greater planning? Starting new projects, plans or life paths at this time can pose challenges that can create frustration and delay.  Engage with focus and a steady sustained effort to tie up loose ends and finish what has been started.

Keep in mind that Mars is fiery, passionate and assertive planet and Mars in the retrograde phase can feel dissipated, frustrated or angry. Because of this avoid taking unnecessary risks and following sudden impulses.  If tension builds to a level of frustration on its way to anger, do step back, take a moment. Breathe…and breathe again. If immersing yourself in nature calms you, go for a hike or sit by the water. Think about the outcome you would prefer and remember that kindness and compassion for yourself and others is the best expression for calming things down to reach that desired result. If you’re able, talk to a trusted friend or write your feelings in a journal to move them out of your head and heart so that you can process them with greater awareness.  People with prominent Mars, Aries or Scorpio in the birthchart may feel this retrograde more intensely than others.

Although things may slow down and even some to a standstill, there is a purpose to this; it is to give us pause. To have some time to not always act, but instead reflect and consider how we’ve done things in the past and how we might do them different or better down the road when Mars stations direct.

If you would like to know where this Full Moon in Capricorn or Mars retrograde occurs in your birthchart, please send me your birth information. I need mm/dd/yyyy, time of birth am/pm (as exact as possible, birth certificate is best), and city and state of birth.
